"My paintings blur the lines between fantasy and reality. I create portraits that depict imaginary rites in which female characters perform ceremonies to celebrate fertility and the cycles of life. Unclothed, covered with flora and fauna, their bodies become one with the soil, embracing the connection between humankind and nature, a relationship that has weakened with the growing reliance on industry and technology. I use painting as a tool to create magical worlds that explore my experiences as a Latin American woman, while offering my personal understanding and appreciation of beauty, fantasy and desire." -- Alonsa Guevara
